Athanasia

This woodland garden offers a calming retreat from the turmoil of modern life.

The design was inspired by the sudden death of Emma Peios in 2012 from leukaemia. Emma was a proud mother, loving wife and talented horticultural photographer; she was also a founder member of the Professional Garden Photographers’ Association (PGP). Epping Forest Woodland Burial parks, natural burial grounds set within mixed mature woodland, have also provided inspiration for the garden.

Athanasia is a place for reflection, rest and a celebration of the beauty of nature. It is a serene garden that offers a moment of tranquillity, as well as hope for the future.

“I have worked with Weald Design frequently over the last few years supplying mature trees to many of their projects. These projects have included the 2013 Gold Medal winning show garden at Hampton Court. It has always been a pleasure to deal with both David and his clients when they visit the nursery to choose plants. Planting of the trees has always been well organised and carried out with both professionalism and skill.”
